Empowering Residents

Together

Welcome to the Citizens for Township Democracy web page! We appreciate your civic concern and visit to our site.

This web page’s current focus is on motivating residents to consider running for the Lyon Township Board Treasurer position in this 2024 election cycle.

You already know the situation. The Lyon Township Board (Treasurer included) has eliminated our Democratic Republic’s right to vote on major, costly infrastructure projects!

By doing so, we had no power to stop them from increasing our financial burden with the recently passed township septic ordinance. The septic ordinance is too swift in implementation, too intrusive, TOO costly and too aligned with supporting the already proposed, unfunded, lake-wide 130-million-dollar Step Sewer project that has no proof of need!

This current board has decided to support special interest groups instead of the residents, mislead us throughout the process, condescendingly dismiss our concerns, wants to grab ALL our money without a vote, and pompously believes we can’t stop them.

Is that something you and your loved ones want four more years of? We don’t think so!

This has got to stop. Enough is Enough!

Remember, bigger organizations, like the “lakefront owners only” Higgins Lake Property Owners Association, literally helped get these current board members elected four years ago.

But, by 2 to 1, WE ARE THE MAJORITY VOTE HERE in Lyon Township.

Citizens for Township Democracy (CTD) has come together to help find and endorse candidates who will ensure the rights of the people return TO THE PEOPLE!

We still need a candidate for treasurer to “step up” that we can endorse.

Treasurer positions are close to full-time jobs. They have a deputy and need basic math, computer skills, filing, record keeping, and people skills. The Treasurer position provides good pay and a good benefits package.

Though the Treasurer job will benefit from previous experience in all those areas, do not fear that the job duties are above you. Help and training will immediately be available to learn what to do and when to do it.

If you are responsible, civic-minded, willing to learn, and proud of your work ethic, you certainly qualify to run for the treasurer position.

The only requirement is that you have been a resident for 30 days and prove it (utility bills, etc.). If you decide to run, paperwork must be filed at the County Clerk’s office by April 23rd.

Citizens for Township Democracy (CTD) will endorse candidates who believe informed resident voting should determine significant infrastructure projects and change proposals.

We will endorse candidates who have a sense of community representation determining ALL Twp. board decisions, NOT the Twp board members’ personal agendas, backed by special interest groups.

I’m sure you have questions; we have answers!

We will provide you with the best information on the job duties, help with filing the paperwork to run, wages, and more, along with other contact sources where you can perform your due diligence.

STEP UP …. we will endorse those bringing DEMOCRACY back to our community!
